The wife of Dwyane Wade filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Chicago’s Cook County Circuit Court against the NBA player’s alleged mistress, actress Gabrielle Union.
In the court filing, Siohvaughn Wade alleged Union “engaged in sexual foreplay with Dwyane Wade” in the presence of Wade’s 8-year-old and 2-year-old sons while she visited the NBA player’s home in Miami.
Emotional distress of the children is subsequently claimed by Siohvaughn Wade, who is demanding over $50,000 in damages from Union.
Also alleged in the lawsuit (PDF):
Wade’s 8-year-old son related the sexual foreplay story to a court-appointed child representative. The child then asked the rep “to put his father in jail” so he would not have to return to “the house where the woman kissing daddy live.”
Wade introduced Union to the boys as his “girlfriend” and said “that is why your mom and I are going to divorce.”
The 2-year-old nearly drowned on one visit to the Wade home in Miami, with the 8-year-old also allowed to play by the pool “unsupervised.” The 8-year-old is now seeking court-mandated mental evaluations at the University of Chicago and because of mental distress has suffered “significant” hair loss leading to bald spots.
Union attorney C. Anthony Mulrain released the following statement today:
“Each and every allegation made is entirely false. Ms. Union wasn’t in the state of Florida or Illinois where and when each of these allegations are said to have occurred. These false accusations were previously made approximately one month ago in family court.
Not only was Ms. Union not named a defendant at that time but the court ultimately rejected these claims as frivolous. Gabrielle apologizes to the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois for tying them up with erroneous claims when there are real victims who should be receiving the legal attention they need.”
Dwyane Wade also released a statement to the media through his attorney:
“I am shocked that Siohvaughn Wade has brought this baseless and meritless lawsuit in the name of our children against Gabrielle Union…I am deeply saddened and disappointed that Siohvaughn has used our sons once again as pawns and is now lashing out at Gabrielle, who is an innocent party. It is clear that this is a desperate attempt to retaliate against me for seeking sole custody of our children and requesting that the court have her undergo a psychiatric examination.”
The divorce court proceeding between the Wades is scheduled for September, with the NBA player hoping to settle with Siohvaughn in the meantime.
A possible reason for Siohvaughn’s lawsuit against Union is the aforementioned pending request by Dwyane Wade for sole custody of his children and that his wife undergo a psychological evaluation.
Siohvaughn has previously claimed that Dwyane Wade “abandoned” his kids and was “guilty of extreme and repeated mental cruelty” toward his wife.
