Video: Jimmy Clausen Gets Pushy With BC Player

After Notre Dame’s shaky 20-16 win over Boston College today, Jimmy Clausen went over to shake the hand of BC player Rich Gunnell.

Gunnell was in no mood for consolation though, and he delivered some pointed words in Clausen’s direction. One guess how Clausen reacted to the situation.

Clausen showed the same grace under pressure the Irish have shown throughout Charlie Weis’ tenure:

Obviously the BC player said something out of line. From the Cincy perspective, keep winning Weis, we need Brian Kelly to stay put!

I’m not a ND fan at all, but Clausen did the right thing. Your team, BC, just lost, too late to talk smack.

Really reaching to make this a story…….

Oh for God’s sake, come on. What’s with the headline: “Jimmy Clausen Gets Pushy with BC Player”

How about what really happened: “BC Player Gets in Jimmy Clausen’s Face.”

Seriously, if you were actually practicing objective sports journalism, the headline is: “Heated exchange between BC’s Gunnell and ND’s Clausen”

Clearly though, objective sports journalism is not high on the agenda here.

At least Jimmy didn’t pull off a LeGarrette Blount & slug him.

Looks like a non-story, but it’s stupid to rip on Clausen for his lack of “grace under pressure,” since I’m pretty sure it was BC’s qb throwing the game away today.

Obviously the writer of this article is biased. Gunnell was upset that he lost and he couldn’t behave in a mature posture. Claussen told him to pound sand. Loosers like Gunnell can’t take the heat and have to pass it on to someone else. Gunnell….grow up!!!

meh - do you know what LOL means?
what is funny about saying “wait, what did clausen do wrong?”
    don’t be an idiot…
nothing more annoying than using LOL inappropriately.
    OMG

Whatever Gunnell said, Clausen made it look like he personally had no class. On national television, he isn’t smart enough to throw up his hands and walk away?Maybe he did or said something during the game to warrant being called out for it. Whatever it was, Gunnell thought he had to bring it up right there.
The funny thing was that neither Tom Hammond or Pat Haden made ANY mention of it whatsoever.
God forbid, they say something bad about an ND player.
And their constant talk of Clausen as a Heisman candidate is a joke.

i think hammond and haden were just confused about what to make of it all — nd finally beating bc, clausen shoving gunnell, weis with tears in his eyes and snot running down his face. that’s a lot to digest ….

Word on the street is that Clausen had pushed a BC player - unprovoked - before the game started - his idea of “trash talking.” Gunnell was likely calling him out on it.

What’s not mentioned here, is that Gunnell was being interviewed at the time, and Clausen walked up, interupted them, and then the exchange happened.

like players dont go up to shake hands with other players during interviews.. the guy from BC lost his cool and clausen didnt feed into it. end of story.

Gunnell was pissed because Clausen had shoved Jarvis before the game for no reason and was talking trash so Gunnell thought he was full of it coming over in front of the cameras to say good game so he told him to shove it and Clausen was over it.

Right or wrong, BS players AND student-fans are a bunch of punks! I was at several BC games over the years in South Bend and everytime either BC fans-students-or players started crap. What a bunch of babies!

BC players that is, not BS…..but could fit in the right context for Gunnell. Bullsh** sore loser!

To me it seems like Clausen went to shake his hand, BC player says something and points his finger, and Clausen shoved him.

I’m with Clausen. He did what any of us would have done. Shove him out of the way and run away from stinky garbage.

Jimmy Clausen’s Dad should have used the personal trainer he got for Jimmy starting in 8th grade to teach him how to throw a better girlie chest shove.

Also looked like some vintage Jimmy smack as he turned around running the other way right after doing so.

No defending the BC guy, but Jimmy could have just paid no attention and walked away. There’s no high road with that guy…he’s clueless and spineless.

I came to this site today to see if any of the op-ed journo’s here would do a piece on the Taylor Mays’ clothesline on James Rodgers, in the endzone, after the play was over and no penalty was called.
But no. All I see is an irrelevant anti-Notre Dame piece.
Why am I not shocked. Being that the proprietor of this site is an avowed University of Spoiled Children booster/supporter/jockstrap cleaner.
Oh well. One can always hope.

Surprising that a USC honk would post something like this. Ridiculous.

I’m all for finding reasons to call Clausen an idiot, but the video is kind of weak. If Clausen really pushed a BC player before a game, fine, but Gunnel saying it happened isn’t really proof now, is it?

if this guy is so good at getting the video where is the sound so we can here what the bc punk said

What you don’t see is Gunnell then threw his helmet at Clausen.

Regardless what prompted Clausen’s reaction, it was a classless act by a classless person. I’m sick of the Notre Shame Crying Irishand their bitch of a QB which is exactly what he looked like at the end of the video.
