Tiki Barber appeared with girlfriend Traci Johnson on Entertainment Tonight this week in an apparent attempt to explain their actions in the aftermath of Barber leaving his current wife of 11 years.

During the appearance, Barber maintained that he was completely innocent of an extramarital affair: “We were only friends when I was still married. I was separated, out of my house so it wasn’t until then that we took things to the next level.”
Barber might want to let his current wife Ginny in on that privileged information since the state of New York still has the couple as legally married.
Johnson: “Tiki and I were romantically involved when he was separated, and plenty of people who are separated have boyfriends and girlfriends.”
Plenty of men are romantically involved while their current wife is eight months pregnant with twins?
Plenty of men escort women who aren’t their wife to public events in their honor?

Barber: “My goal is to not have the kids suffer because of the failings of mine and my soon to be ex-wife. Marriages dissolve. It happens! I’m just a normal guy who had a job that people cared about, and maybe there is a standard to live up to that but it’s a hard one, for anyone.”
Since he doesn’t want the kids to “suffer“, Barber made sure he did an interview on national television with his girlfriend - while still married - in order to note the “failings of my soon to be ex-wife.”
Barber evidently can’t wait to then play that interview tape back for his kids as soon as they’re old enough to know what’s going on in order to mitigate their emotional trauma.

Whenever I see or hear the name “Tiki” the first thing that pops into my head is tiki torches, which then leads to the line the Professor told Gilligan in an episode where the castaways had a Vitamin C deficincy and as such were counting on some planted orange seeds to grow. Gilligan was to keep watch overnight so that the tiki torches wouldn’t go out and the seeds not get the warmth they needed.
Professor in a stern tone: “Gilligan those tiki torches must be kept lit. Those orange seeds must be kept warm.”
Gilligan in a Gilliganesque tone: “Professor, are you trying to tell me something?”

Giants teammates upon his retirement: good riddance. NBC gives him a high profile job right away, and talks of him as a potential host of the Today Show. Then, around the time he “went to the next level” with an unpaidBa show intern, NBC “quietly let him go.” Now he has no job, no credibility and no family. All he has is this girl. How long is she going to stand beside a broke pariah?

I heard an interview with “The Great Tiki” where he had to have ex cop bodyguard’s around him at all times because he did not have time and could not be bothered by the Average Joe that just wanted to engage in conversation with him. It amazes me that when a man leaves his wife because he is unhappy, Feminists and men without testicles always demonize him.
Yet when a woman does the same thing, it’s because “her man wasn’t taking care of her needs”. Nobody ever asks why the man was unhappy…Ever.
Tiki played ball, got another job, makes money on the side, and provides for his family.

I always chuckle at articles in rags like Cosmo where women try to downplay the alarming drop in marriage and dating rates as well as birth rates in America to “the busy woman”, or, “she does not want to settle”.
Hogwash, all of it. In case you have not looked around, there is a record number of guys choosing not to get married. They are tired of the double standard, the incessant whining, and the demonization of the hard working patriarchial figure in the media. After a while, guys just get fed up. Everybody has their breaking point. Hyper-feminism made it’s bed, and not it has to lie in it.
Instead, they are quietly going their own route. It’s not that women don’t want to get married, it’s that men ARE NOT asking them anymore.
