Texas Tech Stops Sales of Vick Shirt Mocking Aggies

TEXAS TECH MUZZLES THE SELLING OF SLICK VICK SHIRTS: Stop the shirt presses! A Texas Tech student will no longer be allowed to sell his Vick-themed tees:

MSNBC reports that Geoffrey Candia will stop selling the shirts he created for the Red Raiders’ upcoming game against Texas A&M.

The front of the fashionable wear displays the words “VICK ‘EM”, a play off of the Aggies’ slogan “Gig ‘em”. The back features a silhouette of a football player with the number 7 dangling a dog by the chain. The canine in question is supposed to be Reveille, the collie mascot of Texas A&M.

The shirty shenanigans are a humorous homage to Michael Vick, the Falcons QB busted for running a dogfighting ring. But the crew from College Station isn’t laughing.

Candia managed to sell about 300 of the shirts through his fraternity before the Lubbock-based university put an end to it. The frat has been suspended by the school and could face further disciplinary charges.

The crude clothing is just another drop in the ongoing bad blood between Tech and A&M. Past football farces have included battery by batteries, getting the cold shoulder from thrown ice, and terror by tossing tortillas.

Should be a fun Big 12 weekend in the Texas Panhandle. Hope neither team dogs it.
