Tebow Draft Status Might’ve Just Fallen Off a Cliff

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports today:

Grant Desme

(Video highlights)

Outfielder Grant Desme, one of the Oakland A’s top prospects, has decided to retire from baseball in order to pursue the priesthood. An A’s official confirmed Desme’s decision this morning, saying the 23-year-old is “serious” about the big career change.

After batting .288 with 31 home runs in 131 games in A-ball last year, Desme opened eyes with stellar play in the Arizona Fall League, where he won the prospect-laden league MVP award. Baseball America currently has him pegged as the #8 prospect in the A’s chain.

He played so well in the fall that the A’s were seriously considering inviting him to major league spring training this season.

“If he keeps putting up these kinds of numbers, it’d be hard not to bring him in [to Spring Training],” Keith Lieppman, A’s director of player development, told MLB.com in October. “There’s a lot of good things happening with him right now. At this stage, he looks like the complete package.”

So does this spook the teams who were considering drafting Tim Tebow?

Wow. That’s amazing. Good for him. I hope he’s successful and finds the fulfillment he’s looking for.

No team is going to draft Tebow. At least not any that know what they’re doing. He’s just like all the other recent Heisman winners from the QB position, the list from the past 25 years includes the likes of Troy Smith, Matt Leinart, Jason White, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Danny Wuerffel, Charlie Ward, Gino Torretta, Ty Detmer and Andre Ware.

Funny how “the most outstanding player in collegiate football” year after year is barely qualified to play so much as a snap in the NFL.

Brooks, you’ve now taken to making up headlines? Why not also include Colt McCoy, Matt Barkley, etal. as athletes whose stock will now plummet on the theory they will all be drawn into the ministry. Drawing this connection is a stretch at best, and only serves to expose your contempt for anyone associated with organized Christianity.

Always entertaining to see people here who can barely spell (your such a homo) calling other people names. Thanks for a laugh!

    You’re such an idiot!

tebow was a great college player, probably not so great in the NFL… but brooks is allowed is own opinion, just as Florida fans are allowed to worship Tebow like a Saint.

A guy who was killed then came back to life, who now lives in the sky watching everything we do.
Sure………. I’ll give up a pro football career for that

Jesus never existed. Just another version of a sun god. But you want to give up sex and your baseball career to be closer to your imaginary friend so be it.

Speaking of which, Tebow throws like a girl. That’s why his draft status has dropped.

Alyx….Why do you say Jesus never existed, there is no denying the proof he existed…it is documented like all other historical events. And what is a sun god?
