After Multi-DUIs Stabler Launches New Wine Label

Following three DUI arrests and a run-in with the IRS in recent years, the last couple months Ken Stabler has set out on a new, high-profile business venture.

The former Alabama and NFL quarterback is now selling his own brand of wine.

Ken Stabler now selling wine

Bob Carlton of the BIRMINGHAM NEWS reported of Stabler’s new booze biz in January:

Stabler’s wine has a suggested retail price of $11.99 a bottle, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the XOXO Stabler Foundation, which supports such charities as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Mulherin Custodial Home for special-needs children in Mobile, and Mobile’s Camp Rap-A-Hope, a summer camp for children with cancer.

Stabler was unsure how much of his wine sales will go to the charities.

“It matters just the fact that you are giving,” he said. “It’s not a matter of how much you give. We will give as much as we possibly can.”

Stabler, who has done numerous wine tastings at restaurant and grocery locations in recent weeks around the state of Alabama, said of his decision to sell alcohol in light of his DUI arrests:

The 65-year-old, silver-haired Stabler said Friday he has no concerns about marketing an alcoholic beverage with his name, number and legacy attached to it.

“No, not at all,” he said. “It’s all about our foundation. It’s all about celebrating those teams.

“I didn’t ship a thousand cases in here to drink,” he added.

Stabler was arrested for DUI in 1995, 2001 and 2008. During his most recent arrest, he admitted to the presiding officer that he’d been drinking and was caught driving without a license. Read more…

You have to hand it to our legal system. Yeah, I know, there are times when you wonder if the lawyers in this country haven’t completed perverted our system of justice. But I think it’s safe to say that the good folks in Mobile, Alabammy, got it right this week.

Kenny Stabler Oakland Raiders Arrested

(Thank goodness Stabler saw that Florida state line in time!)

Former Bama and Raiders QB Kenny Stabler walked on a DUI charge yesterday, despite the fact that he refused a breath test and according to the presiding officer, “could not follow instructions needed to take a field sobriety test.”

Now, just because Stabler has been arrested for DUI now four times - and refused to take the breath test on this occasion - doesn’t make him guilty? K?

By now you’ve probably seen Punter’s post on the Giants’ Super Bowl rings getting stolen from a jewelry store located just 10 miles from the Patriots’ offices. I’ve since heard from a league source that the rings were soon to be delivered to additional club employees (the players, coaches and top front office staff got theirs first).

Stabler’s Now An Unholy Roller: 3 DUIs Since ‘95

Former Raiders quarterback Kenny Stabler was known as “The Snake” in his playing days, but has turned out to be no less slithery than when his playing days wound down 24 years ago.
