Nashville Police yesterday released audio tapes from a July 6 interview from another Steve McNair mistress, a woman named Leah Ignagni.

The interview took place a little more than a month before Ignagni was arrested for two felony drug offenses.
(McNair’s second mistress also arrested on multiple felony drug charges)
Ignagni to police on July 6:
“I will say that Steve and I got pretty, um … He got pretty serious with me, as in serious texts on those nights and stuff. He thought that I was going to like break up with him and stuff throughout last week, so he would just show up at my house a lot.”
Ignagni said the McNair told her he was divorcing his wife Mechelle.
Nashville Police officially closed the murder-suicide case involving Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi today, but not before releasing more documents from their investigation. From those documents we learned today that McNair’s mistress and murderer Kazemi knew Titans QB Vince Young.
Ganther said he met Kazemi at the restaurant where she worked several months before the shooting. She had sent him text messages and visited his Hermitage apartment once. Ganther said he had not had a romantic relationship with her.
You can’t help but wonder what Young was doing at a small gathering with Kazemi while he pretended to own McNair’s condo.
In the 200-page case file released to the public today, police provided nothing further about the “get-together.” Authorities obviously didn’t view Young’s role in the case important enough to include any more details .
But you can only imagine how V.Y. felt when he first heard the news about McNair. And that he was previously at the murder scene with the murderer.
In the wake of yesterday’s report by CBS, calling into question the very notion that Steve McNair was killed by girlfriend Sahel Kazemi, the legal community was abuzz for approximately a couple hours… until the Nashville police released new text messages between the two, which effectively squelched all alternative murder theories… or did they?
We’ve tried to keep an open mind here, even as the initial and subsequent evidence have pointed to a murder-suicide. As we said yesterday, though, nothing new that’s come out has even suggested that anybody but Kazemi is the killer; today, too, the revelations only change the narrative under which Kazemi killed McNair.
It’s been over three months since the awful story about Steve McNair’s murder first broke, and from virtually the first moment on, all the convenional wisdom has suggested that his illicit girlfriend, Sahel (or “Jenny“) Kazemi had killed McNair before turning the gun on herself.
CBS NEWS, however, seems to think otherwise - or at the very least, seems to think the police’s investigation was a combination of incomplete and inaccurate. And while some questions they raise are a little less convincing than others, the totality of the CBS investigation certainly makes the circumstances of the incident seem a little less plausible than before.
[UPDATE: CBS’s Arman Keteyian says his investigation has prompted “a major breakthrough” in the case. No details, of course.]
The ASSOCIATED PRESS has this terribly sad video of Steve McNair, part of three different public service announcements he narrated on suicide prevention.
“Hi, I’m Steve McNair, I know that some young people are struggling with tough times. Each year too many young people are taking their own lives. … ”
McNair then gives a suicide hotline number.
The videos were shelved from public airing soon after McNair’s death - until obtained by the AP.

I would say that we’re all appalled by the Steve McNair-Sahel Kazemi skeleton display for Kings Island Ohio’s Halloween theme, but of course, that wouldn’t be true. If not for the Mark Whickers among us, AOL’s Clay Travis wouldn’t have his exclusive.
(My former colleague, Kings Island p.r. guy Don Helbig, botched this one)
But to make matters worse the public relations guy for Kings Island, a past acquaintance of mine named Don Helbig, said of the display “There was no reference to Steve McNair at all. No jersey, nothing.”

We’re now in the toxicology report window of the Steve McNair shooting investigation, and while it’s pretty clear Sahel Kazemi shot McNair before turning the gun on herself, it’s time to get a sense of what state both were in at the time.
(Kazemi, with the drug of choice.)
As for what state that actually was, it doesn’t look too great. As we reported a couple weeks ago, McNair was sleeping when Kazemi shot him to death. Based on blood tests that just came back today, he was even more incapacitated than that.
The TENNESSEAN reports that the man who sold the gun that killed Steve McNair will be facing federal gun charges.
U.S. Attorney Ed Yarbrough has called a 1 p.m. ET media conference at the federal courthouse in Nashville to formally announce the charges against the gun seller. Police have previously determined that 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi shot & killed McNair before turning the gun on herself. Kazemi reportedly purchased the gun just two days before she used it on the ex-Titans QB.
• Police have determined that 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi shot & killed ex-Titans QB Steve McNair, ruling the deaths a murder-suicide.
• Seems sadly ironic that McNair had filmed a PSA about suicide prevention just a few weeks before. And Steve’s wife was reportedly “blindsided” by her husband’s affair.
• Interesting that Sahel had recently put up all her furniture for sale. More interesting that her ex-boyfriend performed a rap about shooting someone.
