Update: Nu’Keese Has a (Wide) Load On His Mind

Last we saw former Tennessee Volunteer star football recruit Nu’Keese Richardson, he was helping his friends look for clothes at Wal-Mart.

After the backlash from that episode it appears, at least if his Twitter background photo is any indication, Richardson won’t make that mistake again. Read more…

Nu’Keese And Jarvis Byrd Enjoy Priceless Moment

You may remember former Tennessee Volunteer football player Nu’Keese Richardson. The freshman wide receiver was kicked off the team after police arrested him last November for attempted armed robbery.

Though he was given a three-year prison sentence for his crime, if he violates his court-ordered probation he will likely go to prison. No longer a student at Tennessee, Richardson has since transferred to I-AA Hampton (VA) University to try to reclaim his once-promising football career.

Richardson played high school ball with current N.C. State defensive back Jarvis Byrd, who was generally regarded as the Wolfpack’s top high school recruit in 2009. It turns out the two are still friends, if video linked today from Richardson’s personal Twitter account is any indication.

Richardson, Byrd and former Pahokee high school classmate Kaalum Williams are all shown on that video making an apparent late-night visit to Wal-Mart. There’s no indication when the video was originally shot.

I’ve transcribed a portion of their comments while they shopped for t-shirts. The video audio is extremely not safe for work and is riddled with homosexual slurs by Richardson, so be warned. Read more…

Kiffin Lied Twice About Vols’ Clean Arrest Record

WBIR-TV in Knoxville reports today that “freshman safety Nyshier Oliver was arrested on November 7 and charged with shoplifting at a department store in West Town Mall.

Lane Kiffin Nyshier Oliver

The police report says Oliver was spotted putting a brown shirt worth approximately $110 in a Dillard’s bag. He was arrested around 1:45 that Saturday. That was just over five hours before the Vols were to play Memphis in the homecoming game at Neyland Stadium. Oliver will have an arraignment in the matter on November 23rd.

November 7? But didn’t Lane Kiffin trumpet the Vols’ clean arrest record after that date? Here’s Kiffin on Nov. 12, five days after Oliver was arrested and the day before the arrest of Nu’Keese Richardson, Mike Edwards and Janzen Jackson on robbery charges:

We’ve had zero arrests in now 11 months here.”

But Kiffin didn’t stop there. He lied again. Read more…

Nu'Skeen Richardson Arrested Tennessee Football Player For Robbery

(Urban Meyer will shed no tears about Nu’Keese’s demise)

Our student-athletes must be responsible members of society, and this type of conduct will not be tolerated. We want a positive culture for our student-athletes that allows them to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and in life after college. My hope is that these two young men will learn from their terrible decision. Clearly, their actions have no place in our program.

The third player allegedly involved in the robbert attempt last week, Janzen Jackson, “will continue to not be allowed to participate in team activities while Kiffin awaits additional information.”

So what’s the early verdict on Kiffin’s call?

3 Tennessee Football Players Arrested For Armed Robbery

(Jackson, Richardson, Edwards)

Janzen Jackson, Michael Edwards and Nu’Keese Richardson, all 18, were charged this morning after an armed robbery attempt at a Pilot station on Cumberland Avenue, according to the Knoxville Police Department. Each player faces three counts of attempted armed robbery.

Both Richardson and Jackson are coming off a week in which they faced discipline from coach Lane Kiffin, the former for missing a practice and the latter for a violation of team rules.

Ironically, Kiffin had “touted the discipline in his program and a clean arrest record as recently as Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.

The details of the case are simple. And damning. Read more…
