Late last week, SoCal network television station San Diego 6 aired an on-camera interview with Tila “Tequila” Nguyen that included some beyond-explosive accusations about Shawne Merriman’s lifestyle that hasn’t gotten much coverage in the national media.

Nguyen told San Diego 6 that Merriman’s brother Jay “manufactures” a special form of ecstasy in one of Shawne’s homes, which is designed to go undetected by NFL drug tests.
She also claimed Merriman was a “pedophile” who has sex with minors.
From the San Diego 6 interview:
“Jay — Shawne’s brother — manufactures ecstasy at Shawne’s house in one of his rooms,” Tila claimed. “Manufactures them just for Shawne so that it won’t show up in his blood test or drug test.”
Using her webcam at home on Thursday, Tila Tequila accused Shawne Merriman of being a pedophile and a racist.
“He sleeps with minors and forces them to take drugs. So he sleeps with these little girls,” Tila charges in her video. “He don’t even like black girls — he don’t even support black people — so I don’t understand why you support him.”
Mind-blowing charges by Nguyen. Merriman has since denied none of her claims, only saying, “The DA’s office has said in the previous case I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Merriman is in a precarious situation here. If he denies the charges, he might be giving Nguyen some measure of credibility. But if he ignores the charges, there might remain a sliver of doubt in the minds of some people.
Based on Nguyen’s beyond-erratic behavior, safe to assume that most reading this think her accusations are completely bogus. But if that’s the case, why is a reputable San Diego network television station giving her a platform to make outrageous accusations?
If you’re Merriman, do you come out and categorically deny these charges made on a San Diego TV station, or do you ignore them, risking that Nguyen will continue to get coverage from legitimate news outlets?
Tough call, but if I was Merriman, I would, through my attorney, get ahead of this story and make specific, systematic denials to all of her claims. Shut her down. Though it doesn’t appear that will happen unless Merriman somehow gets dragged into court.
In other words, we haven’t heard the last of Nguyen and her legal counsel.

I would like to think that none of this stuff has ever happened. However, the minute I start doubting anything the media ever spews, it wineds up biting me in the ass. They have Tila on suicide watch right?

I’m no lawyer (nor do I play one on TV), but he could have a pretty good basis for a slander suit here.
And maybe the judge could slap her with a gag order. Or just slap her. Or gag her.

They’re giving her a platform because it’s a ratings bonanza for them. It is “sweeps” month after all.
I can’t think of a single reason why Merriman would even THINK about denying these allegations. Denying them lends them credibility. By not even acknowledging them, it makes her look more and more ridiculous. She has very little credibility to begin with, especially after she essentially lied about the incident a couple months ago.

Sooo, Merriman’s brother Jay is some mad scientist, who can create a pill that goes undetected from drug tests. Why even play football? If your brother is that freakin smart, why isn’t he in a lab making millions there? Tila is bitter and doing all that she can to throw dirt on Merriman. Her feelings were hurt and this is her lashing out.
