Just as I’d weaned myself off the made-for-TV fake marriage of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian, I heard something that had me tapping my mainline again.

If you’ve driven around Los Angeles the past few years, you’ve probably seen billboards for the “Petros and Money Show“, a popular sports radio show on KLAC-AM and syndicated nationally on Fox Sports Radio. Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith have also filled in many times on Jim Rome’s national radio show and appeared on Rome’s ESPN-TV Show Rome Is Burning.
Smith is also a former Lakers radio host. Over the past four years, he hosted all of the Lakers pregame and postgame shows, did some play-by-play of the games and occasionally traveled with the team.
Needless to say, he’s been very close to the Lakers organization during that time, so I take very seriously the bombshell Smith dropped on his radio show yesterday about Lamar Odom.
Smith, Papadakis, Steve Hartman and Vic Jacobs were all jawing about Odom’s sham marriage with Khloe Kardashian when Smith said this:
“You want to know how in love Lamar is? Word is Lamar was madly in love with another young lady no less than one week before he met Khloe and asked that young lady to marry him and she said, ‘whoa, slow down.’
“This was another celebrity that sees herself grace the pages of TMZ. So you wonder … maybe Lamar had alternate plans and alternate intentions of making himself more of a celebrity than just a dude that plays basketball for the Lakers. …
” … One week after he asked another young lady to marry him, he meets Khloe and three weeks later, he asks her to marry him.
” … We’re going to get this story, we’re going to further this story. We’ve planted the seeds on this story and I would say that some time by this time next week, we are going to watch it grow. Watch it bloom.
With Smith having worked in close proximity to the Lakers organization for years, and his comments about Odom being broadcast on the Lakers former longtime flagship radio station (KLAC-AM) and nationally over Fox Sports Radio, there’s definitely some credibility behind those statements.
I emailed Smith directly on Friday to ask him about his on-air statements about Odom, and he replied with “no comment.” So we’ve no idea if/when he’ll reveal anything more specific.
There’s no way to know whom Smith was referring to, but a quick Google search did turn up one public relationship between Odom and a “celebrity that sees herself grace the pages of TMZ.”:
The woman with Odom in the photo is Oscar-nominated actress Taraji Henson (dayum!). The shot was taken seven months ago at the Golden Globes. And yes, Henson has appeared more than once on TMZ.com before, and her relationship with Odom was mentioned in the gossip Star Magazine.
But for all we know, Henson isn’t the woman Smith is talking about. Really, whomever Odom proposed to weeks before he married Kardashian is immaterial. All that matters to him is his insatiable affinity for empty celebrity. (See subsequent 99-cent store nuptials.)
And knowing what we know, how ridiculous does Odom supposedly going to Portland or Miami sound now?

Here’s something I never thought I would say. “Bubba is right.” (I don’t know him. It just sounds funny because of his name.)
Why would a multimillionaire athlete marry someone for publicity? He knows what the word “HALF” means, and unless he was smart enough to get a pre-nup and Khloe was dumb enough to sign one, she has access to a lot of his money if he’s doing this as a PR stunt.
It just doesn’t make any sense. Maybe he’s gay and needs a well-known hottie to be his “beard,” or fake wife, to keep people from outing him. Who knows?

This move baffles me. Odom is the man right now. He just won himself a ring, he’s making 10 mil, and he’s young and famous living in LA. Not only can he do so much better than Khloe, but he doesn’t need the baggage or the publicity to say the least. Plus now he could have Artest as his wingman on any given weekend out in Hollywood.

I can’t see Lamar getting married for publicity all he has to do is go to all the LA Hot Spots like the Ivy to get noticed. Why marry and she will get pregnant for sure buthe said he wants a lot of kids, so maybe this is what he wanted. I just don’t think he married the right person Khloe is a wild girl I wouldn’t want her around my kids. She says anything and doesn’t care. No Morals.

Lamar Odom was with Claudia Jordan, former model who use to work on the ‘Price Is Right’. She lives on TMZ. There is a recent video on there where they were at a party together. He is hugging her and saying that she is the reason why he is sooo happy. I guess until she jilted him and he jumped at the airhead Khloe. He knew that she would fall for that ‘love at first sight crap’! Ha! Ha! Ha! STUPID!
