It’s been quite a tumultuous month for Michael Beasley. The Miami Heat forward has spent most of it in rehab in Houston after sending out some strange messages on Twitter - and putting up a pic with what looks to be pot.
But it seems that Michael’s time in the safe house is coming to a conclusion. The MIAMI HERALD reports that Beasley could be checking out by this weekend, ready to rejoin his Heat teammates & get back to basketball matters when training camp starts on September 28.
So, is Mike fully rehabilitated?
Well, he has been making progress. From the Herald:
Beasley has been permitted to work out with the Heat’s coaching staff the past several weeks. Heat teammates, including captains Udonis Haslem and Dwyane Wade, have communicated with Beasley during his stay in Houston and expect him to regroup and improve on his promising rookie season.
“He has a chance to learn from his mistakes and make something positive of it,” Wade said recently.
Of course, another reason why Beasley is bolting Houston is the removal of his mentor. John Lucas has been spending time with Beasley, and the ex-NBA player & coach has been known to offer guidance & help other troubled young players.
But as TRUE HOOP tells us, Lucas just secured employment as a new assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers. And Beasley’s condition is nothing compared to the loony bin that is the Clippers organization. Why, I wouldn’t be surprised if Beasley turns around & counsels Lucas after having to dealings with Donald Sterling et al.
We should know well soon enough if Beasley is back on track or needs another leave of rehab absence. Maybe the Heat could trade Michael to the Clippers, so he would remain close to Lucas. Then again, hasn’t Mike suffered enough already?
