The clip actually is from a Hendrix perfomance at the Fillmore East in New York City on January 1, 1970, the same day that USC also defeated Michigan 10-3 in the Rose Bowl.
The late guitar master, originally from Seattle, was apparently a Pacific-8 Conference football fan.
