New Oakland Raiders receiver Javon Walker was discovered Monday morning unconscious on a street corner in Las Vegas.
KVVU-TV reports that Walker - the former Packer & Bronco who signed a 6-year with the Silver & Black back in March - had been found unconscious at the corner of East Flamingo Road & Koval Lane, about a block east of the Las Vegas Strip.
Police say that Javon was also suffering from an orbital fracture, but they weren’t sure what caused the injury. Walker was delivered to a local hospital’s trauma unit, where he’s been listed in fair condition.
How could Javon have ended up in such a painful predictament? It might have stemmed from some activities from a few nights before:
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Walker was seen Saturday night at Tryst at the Wynn spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered.
So, Javon was making it rain, just not in the Pacman Jones sense. But it doesn’t explain Walker’s facial injury - or does it?
Could a champagne cork have popped off one of the bottles a little too fast, catching Walker in the eye & knocking him out? And then embarrassed nightclub staff dumped the out-cold Oakland Raider a few blocks away?
Or did he just get beat up in a post-party fight? It would be shocking to learn that an Oakland Raider would get involved in fisticuffs. It would set such a bad example to their respectable fans.
Either way, maybe NFL players should start staying away from Sin City. Or at least wear goggles.
*UPDATE*: The AP follows up that Walker was the apparent victim of a robbery attempt. Raiders officials have no comment, other than to say that they are “in the process of gathering information” about the incident. Such as - why weren’t they invited to Jevon’s Saturday night party?
Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke additionally adds that Walker was also spotted at the Body English club at the Hard Rock Casino until 6:30 a.m. Monday morning, and that the Raider spent another $15,000 on an opening round of champagne.
YOU BEEN BLINDED tosses along purported video of Walker’s Saturday champagne shower. However, the video was added to YouTube over three weeks ago, so it’s a good bet it’s not Javon. Instead, consider the clip a dramatization.
