Just when it’s getting to be that time of year when you start getting excited about the upcoming NBA season, Timberwolves fans have a reason to start feeling a bit less enthused. New center Jason Collins is going to be out of commission for about 8 weeks after banging up his elbow.
But this isn’t just any run-of-the-mill accident. No, sirs and madams, the reason Collins will be out for the entire preseason and probably a week of the regular season is because he was involved in a “freak gold-cart accident!”
From the STARTRIBUNE.COM:
Timberwolves center Jason Collins probably will miss training camp and the regular season’s opening week after undergoing surgery in California on Monday to repair an elbow tendon.
Collins was injured in what a team spokesman called a “freak” golf-cart accident. He partially ruptured his triceps tendon after his golf cart skidded and tipped over.
Of course, golf carts don’t just “tip over” on their own, so we’ll have to wait for the official word about what exactly went down. But in the meantime, here’s a suggestion for Jason: Next time you’re hitting the links, why not drive around in one of these bad boys?
Sure, they don’t get great gas mileage, but they’re next to impossible to tip over.
