High School Gives Hoops Coach The Shake For Genitalia Remark

COACH GIVEN THE SHAKE FOR GENITALIA COMMENT: The ASSOCIATED PRESS reports a high school basketball coach in Maine, Mike Remillard, was fired after he told his team before a recent game that the contest “was about who had the biggest (male genitalia) in town.

Leavitt High School’s principal reports the coach “required his players to all stand up and put their hands down their pants and check their manhood.

I’m guessing opponents won’t shake hands with Leavitt players, with or without Remillard, any time soon.

Curiously, the local paper has a very different account of why Remillard departed. The coach claims he was assaulted by the father of a player after a game and then instructed by school officials the next day to resign. He refused and was fired.

Not-so-minor-detail: Remillard, who had the good sense to recently reveal to the media that his coaching idol is Bob Knight, has a 7-8 record this season and is 23-47 as the school’s coach. If he was winning big, do you think he’d be the victim of such a shakedown?
