8:15 PM Angels outfielder Vernon Wells tweets asking for prayers as he will undergo surgery Tuesday for a torn ligament in his thumb. Wells is expected to be out for 8-10 weeks.

ESPN ‘The Body’ Issue: First Topless Shot Posted

I’ve actually shot the SbB Girls at that exact location many times. El Matador Beach - far north side at low tide. Malibu. House in back tips it off. You can only reach that spot at low tide through a passageway through a massive rock.

USA TODAY’s Tom Weir posts the first semi-nude shot (Surfer Claire Bevilacqua) from ESPN The Magazine’s “The Body” Issue, due out Oct. 9.

Michael McCarthy also has a list of those who will be posing, including Joba Chamberlain. Nude.

Highlights: Adrian Peterson, Dwight Howard, Gina Carano, Randy Couture, Laird Hamilton, Manny Pacquio, Jessica Mendoza

Lowlights: Chamberlain, Serena Williams, Mark Martin(!), Christina Kim (something about her I find cute though.)

McCarthy also reports Tiger Woods turned them down and Danica Patrick was never asked. (How did that come up?)

Patrick though, as I reported yesterday, will make an appearance in the issue.
