King is a former sports editor at the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER who joined ESPN in 2004 and had most recently been overseeing NBA coverage on ESPNews.
He reportedly beat out Kevin Jackson and Patrick Stiegman for the job, who had both been VP & Executive Editor for the site.
