CUBAN CUBS OFFER SMOKED OUT BY CNBC, DEAL BOGUS: Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell of CNBC shoots down the frenzied speculation that Mark Cuban plans to make a $625M offer to buy the Chicago Cubs: “Before everyone goes nuts about Mark Cuban possibly owning the Cubs, take a step back. Sources are telling me that it’s not happening — at least not now.”

But Rovell does note, “I don’t think, in the history of sports, a fan base has wanted a particular owner so badly. It’s reached a point where there are even petitions that have been set up where people are begging Cuban to buy the team.“
