It’s bad enough Cincinnati Bengals fans have to deal with their team’s label as a bunch of lawbreakers, and also endure the on-going craziness of Chad Johnson. Now they have to listen to their star QB diss their state’s college football powerhouse.
(”Carson loves hot dogs, but hates us! WAAAH!“)
Adam Jacobi of AOL FANHOUSE (by way of CAVSBLOG) overhears Carson Palmer bashing the Ohio State University Buckeyes. The former USC stud & Heisman Trophy winner was on L.A.’s KLAC radio on Thursday, and took the opportunity to sound off on the Scarlet & Gray:
“I cannot stand the Buckeyes. Having to live in Ohio and hear those people talk about their team, it drives me absolutely nuts … It’s amazing to hear what those guys think of that university and what they think about that football program and (Jim) Tressel, and all the crap I gotta put up with being back there.”
And Carson is already gearing up for the Trojans-Bucks brawl that takes place this season and next:
“I can’t wait for two years from now, when SC comes to the ‘Shoe and I hopefully - hopefully we’ll have a home game that weekend - and I can watch us pound on them on their own turf, and put all the talk to rest. ‘Cause I’m really getting sick of it, and I can’t wait for this game to get here, so they can come out to the Coliseum and experience L.A. and get an old fashioned Pac-10 butt-whoopin’ and go back to the Big Ten.”
Looks like OSU has their bulletin board material early for the September 13 showdown. But first, they better take care of business against the mighty Youngstown State Penguins & Ohio Bobcats. And OU fans are feeling pretty confident about their chances against the colossus from Columbus. Maybe a Bobcat backer can send Palmer one of their “We Are Ohio, You Are State” t-shirts, and he can show it off at training camp.
Meanwhile, USC better be careful not to get shocked in Charlottesville when they visit Virginia the week before the Bucks come a-callin’ to the Coliseum.
Anyway, it appears that Carson’s complaining now gives Cincinnatians one more Bengal to be embarrased about. Maybe they should be backing the Bearcats instead. At least they made it to the postseason last year.
